A LEGACY BUILT ON
HISTORIC PRESERVATION
The Scottsdale Railroad Society was founded on October 5, 1971, approximately four years before McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park officially opened on October 4, 1975.
Those four years are a remarkable part of the Society's story. During that time, the Society raised funds, funded the original train shed, led the donation and relocation of the Paradise & Pacific Railroad, acquired and preserved historic railroad artifacts, and served as the driving force behind the collaborative effort that brought together the City, volunteers, and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve to prepare the park for its grand opening.
Today, through fundraising, preservation efforts, community partnerships, and volunteer support, we continue to ensure the stories, history, and spirit of the railroad live on for future generations.
