William “Bill” Scarbrough

A lifelong Arizona resident, Bill has 25 years of experience in real estate investing and development, land planning and entitlements. His work has included retail, hospitality, multifamily and mixed-use projects, with a focus on navigating complex approvals and collaborating with municipalities, community stakeholders and development teams.

Bill has a long record of civic involvement in Scottsdale. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Scottsdale Planning Commission, having previously served as its Chair, and formerly served as Vice Chair of the Scottsdale Development Review Board. He is a graduate of Scottsdale Leadership and has participated in Scottsdale’s Citizens Police Academy, Citizens Fire Academy and Government 101 programs. He also serves as an announcer for the Parada del Sol.

As Chairman of the Society, Bill is focused on preserving the founders’ vision while positioning the organization for its next generation of service. He works with the Board, City staff, donors, sponsors, volunteers and community partners to advance historic preservation, educational initiatives, community access and Society-supported Park improvements.

During his tenure, the Society has continued investing in the Park, including the contribution of custom railroad-themed play equipment for the Roundhouse, continued historic preservation efforts, and expanded fundraising, community partnerships and access to Park experiences for children and families.

Bill believes McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park is one of Scottsdale’s most distinctive community assets, bringing together history, education, recreation and generations of family traditions. He is honored to help carry forward the Society’s more than five-decade legacy of supporting the Park and preserving its railroad heritage for future generations.
